Let me start off by saying that if I seem to go a little overboard with compliments, just bare with me, 3 Doors Down is now and always has been my favorite band out of all the genres I listen to. If you don’t already know them, they are a hard rock band from Mississippi that formed back in 1996 (and I’ve been listening to/loving them since then). “Time Of My Life” is their fifth full-length studio album, and after listening to it a few times, I can officially say it is my new favorite. They released the first two singles, “When You’re Young” and “Every Time You Go” earlier this year, and they both reached fairly high ratings; 81 on Billboard Top 100 and #1 on iTunes Rock chart. The album is actually set to release on July 19th, but I got my hands on it early so I just had to fill you guys in on it!

3DD is one of the few bands that can get away with having a signature sound. Most of the music out there today is repetitive crap with song after song that is undifferentiated from the rest. But for 3DD, they have this classic sound that can go unaltered between albums and still be amazing enough to sell millions of records. Over the years, they have become known for their slow, melodic love songs that can bring any grown man to tears. For me, they always seem to have a song that expresses exactly how I feel in any given situation.

With the new album, they brought the old classic sound that I know and love in the majority of the songs, but not all of them. When being questioned about the album, Brad stated that he was very proud of this new album because it brought about a new style for them and that there is always room for improvement in any band. At first, I was a little apprehensive about a new sound from them. However, as soon as I heard the title track, “Time Of My Life,” I knew this was a change for the better. This song is very upbeat and more fast paced than the usual track from them, and I love it. They also included a couple acoustic versions of songs that display this band’s raw talent. I’m happy to see that 3DD can bring their talent into a new generation and still sound amazing. They are one of the few bands that has the ability to create music that will be loved for years to come.

So if you haven’t been able to tell that I think this album is great already then I’ll say it again for you…this album is fucking awesome! If you are already a fan, these songs will help you to continue to be, and if you haven’t been much of a fan in the past, give these songs a chance.

Rating: 9.5/10- If you are a fan of hard rock music, there is no reason for you to not own this album.
