Anthrax to release Covers EP

That’s right folks Anthrax will be releasing an EP of covers to commemorate the one year anniversary of the release of “Worship Music.” It might not seem like something worth commemorating to the average fan but you have to think, that album was ten years in the making! It is definitely something worth celebrating. The following is what Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante  had to say:

“To commemorate the first year of ‘Worship Music’ being out, we’re putting together a little companion EP with some fun s–t on it,” he said. “It started out as what I call ‘The ’70s EP.’ It’s made up of some cover songs from our favorite bands – consisting of Rush, Thin Lizzy, Boston, Journey… We’re still working on it now, but I think it’s gonna be really cool.”

Anthrax really has never let us done when it came to covers, even with there more obscure stuff. I can’t say that I am not excited for this because any new(ish) Anthrax material is good Anthrax material. You can expect to hear the band cover the following tracks:

AC/DCTNT

Boston - Smokin’

JourneyKeep on Runnin’

RushAnthem

Fan can expect to hear Anthrax’s takes on AC/DC’s “T.N.T.,” Boston’s “Smokin’,” Journey’s “Keep on Runnin’” and Rush’s “Anthem.” The EP is due around September 13.

About Matthew Kuritz

Born in 1989 in a small town in South Carolina, Matthew was raised on metal. His father, a huge KISS and other classic rock/metal fan and his brother wh owas raised during he hay-day of Hair Metal and Grunge, Matthew was made to do this. I digest any and all music that comes my way; not just metal. Metal for me strikes the rebellious, angry, and energizing nerve that no other music can. Metal has the most talent, most feeling, and most power than any kind of music. I am always up for discussing anything and everything involving metal and other music.
