If Morbid Angel’s last effort(or lack thereof), Illud Divinum Insanus, wasn’t enough to to push your faith in the morbid ones to it’s limits then look no further than Illud Divinum Insanus – The Remixes, a collection of already poor songs turned into gothic club stomping industrial dance tunes. If you need anymore proof they have gone off the deep end take a visit to vampirefreaks.com to see just how far they’ve derailed. Yes, I said Vampire Freaks. The track is “OmniDead,” not that it really matters. To sweeten this whole thing the top comment at the time of this posting featured a giant banner for the “Marilyn Manson Cult.” Perhaps this is just a huge joke in the making. Maybe they’ll even release their real album on April 1st! Either way, I end up shaking my head in shame every time this album rears it’s ugly head around.
There were only two quotes the press release could find and finagle into sounding positive. One seeming to come from a Decibel article completely unrelated to what I’m sure they’re actual review must have been, and the other, is, of course, from Revolver. Who else would stand behind such an album?
“… they’re the most important band in the genre’s (death metal) history.” – Decibel
“Great bands take risks… llud Divinum Insanus is a real risk, and for that, Morbid Angel should be applauded, haters be damned.” – Revolver
