As you may or may not know, Attack Attack! is a metalcore/post-hardcore band hailing from Ohio. Their 2010 self-titled release was a hit with most of us here at Metal Delirium, but it sort of fizzled out over time with our quickly diminishing interest in core music. Live performances mean a lot to us, and we were greatly disappointed with a lot of the bands we saw from this genre. However, because I did enjoy their previous work so much and they were one of the few bands that actually did put on a good show, I knew I had to give the new album a chance.

“The Means War” starts out on an average note with “The Revolution,” but I was pleasantly surprised by the next track, “The Betrayal.” I think Caleb Shomo is a very talented vocalist, especially when he employs clean vocals. We all know that he can power through one song after another with his screams, but when he slows it down a little and really sings is when I’m truly impressed by him.

Another track that I really liked was “The Motivation” because there is an even mix of screams and cleans, which I love. The lyrics are also great on this track. Actually, there are several tracks on this album that held my interest. I’m really happy to hear them changing it up a little from the last album. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this album, and honestly, my expectations were a little low but I was pleasantly surprised. I can definitely see myself listening to some of these songs throughout the year.

Make sure to keep an eye out for the album when it hits stores, and let us know if you catch one of the dates on their tour!

Rating:

7.5/10- Overall, this is a pretty entertaining album. A couple of the songs fell a little short in my opinion, but others were great. Give it a listen when you can and see for yourselves.

About Whitney

I'm just a simple girl from a small town trying to find my place in the world. What better way to do that than to voice my opinion on the music that I live for? I can't think of one!
