What the hell is METAL HAMMER doing by letting Bullet for My Valentine say they are the next IRON MAIDEN? Matt Tuck says in issue 212 “With Metallica and Iron Maiden and AC/DC there’s not a lot more time left for bands from that era and who’s going to be there to take over from them? My hand’s raised. Fuck it! I’ll give it ago!” and the front cover says “We’ll take over from Metallica and Maiden.”
I get that in terms of popularity in Europe they are the biggest metal band going right now…except for that one little band called IRON MAIDEN! Bullet may be appealing to more and more people everyday and have a more accessible sound but Maiden still draws in bigger crowds and sells more records! Talent? Bullet can’t hold a candle to the playing or singing of anybody in Iron Maiden and they never will be able to. Singing? Oh my Matt Tuck can’t hit the worst note that Dickinson can.
Metallica? Really? Metallica? Bullet does not stand a CHANCE! Metallica are the blueprint for a metal band to become famous. They are the heaviest band to ever be that popular. Sure songs like “Nothing Else Matters” are soft and slower, but they still have amazing and heavy parts to them. Bullet rights a bunch of poppy-sing a long verse songs that are attracted to radio airplay. And again the muscianship and skill is just not their.
Bullet may be similar in some ways to those bands in terms of popularity but in musicianship and song writing they will never stand a chance.
