A little bit of info about the band members of Cherri Bomb before I get into what I think:
- Julia Pierce (14) – lead vocals, rhythm and lead guitar
- Rena Lovelis (14) – bass, lead vocals
- Miranda Miller (16) – guitar, backing vocals
- Nia Lovelis (15) – drums, vocals
I can’t really be to harsh on the band because they are so damn young and managed by Samantha Maloney of HOLE fame, not to mention it’s the type of music I generally stay away from. I couldn’t help myself in this case though, such young girls in a “punk rock” band? I had to listen to it and see if they were like The Donnas. Well, after listening to This Is the End Of Control I can safely sit here and tell you that I feel like it is a mix of Halestorm and The Donnas. The band doesn’t have a bad sound by any means, as a matter of fact Rena Lovelis and Julia Pierce do not have bad singing chops, but who knows where they will be in a couple of years when their voice fully develops. The best part to me might be lead guitar work of Julia Pierce, she has created a lot of cool guitar solos and melodies throughout the album.
I don’t really know if I would say any of the songs stand out over eachother, they all have a pretty similair sound and aren’t anything spectacular. I will say that I throughoughly enjoyed “Act The Part” and “Drawing a Blank” back-to-back. They have a great punk vibe and are great straight-to-the-point songs. I wish they weren’t split with another heavy song, “Paper Doll”, by a very slow and boring song by the name of “Drawing A Blank”. Which i’m sure will be a single at some point in time.
At the end of the day Cherri Bomb is an all girl band that is fucking 7-9 years younger than me and already more talented musicians then I ever tried to be. ….Go figure. The album is cool, I don’t think this will be the album that gets them a lot of fame but if they keep working at it they could be pretty good.
Rating: 5/10

Sorry but I don’t think this album is to make it very far
