Since the entire Metal Delirium crew will be face to face with the guys from Emmure this coming Friday when the All-Stars Tour hits Myrtle Beach, I figured announcing their new video release would be a perfect way to celebrate!
As you may have seen and read, we here at MD have some issues with the entire deathcore genre, but Emmure stands as one of our favorites in this inglorious mix. However, this video doesn’t help to improve my personal opinion of the genre very much. It puts Matthew’s previous post into very clear perspective. The bands in this genre of music want to pass themselves off as nothing more than weed smoking badasses, and even with Emmure, it’s getting a little old.
The “Children of Cybertron” video shows the guys on their tour bus doing what they do best…blowing smoke into the air and seemingly not giving a shit about anything or anyone. Personally, I was not impressed.
As for the upcoming concert, I couldn’t be more stoked. I do feel that some of the bands in the lineup, Emmure in particular, are talented artists, but they don’t seem to understand that just because you are pegged as a deathcore band doesn’t mean you have to sound a certain way or fit into a certain image. I feel that if these bands learned to better differentiate themselves, they would be much more enjoyable to listen to and their videos would be worth watching. I guess it’s a good thing I don’t give rating for music videos…
