Finally, I got my hands on one of my most anticipated releases of this year! After reviewing I Am Abomination’s album “To Our Forefathers” I have been addicted to them ever since. As you probably already know (because I just know you all read my other review) that I Am Abomination is a ball busting post-hardcore band hailing from Taylor, Michigan. They haven’t been around a very long time, but they have accomplished quite a lot; including putting most of the other bands in their musical genre to shame.
I have been waiting patiently for “Passion of the Heist” to be released (actual release date is 7-19-11) ever since I heard to first song “Examination.” This one song is packed with Phil’s amazing vocals (as is expected) and powerful guitar work that continues to blow me away every time I listen to it. As for the other songs, they also display the great talent that I have come to love from IAA. However, I got my hopes up that they would all be just as amazing as “Examination,” but they unfortunately fell slightly short of my extremely high expectations. Personally, they all seem a little too similar for me. I guess “To Our Forefathers” spoiled me by being as incredible as it was.
Overall, IAA is still my favorite post-hardcore band and I’m sure that they will continue to be. I think any fan of this genre should check out the new EP because they are sure to enjoy it. I really can’t wait to see what else is in store for this band. I can only hope that they continue to grow and create amazing music for years to come.
Rating: 8/10- This is a great EP from a very talented band. Make sure to check it out and give me some feedback. Am I the only one that expected a little more from the rest of the songs? Have any of you had the opportunity to see them live? Let me know! Comment, email, tweet…make it happen people!
