I HATE TOMMY THAYER

I have sat back for a long time and respected Tommy Thayer of KISS for doing his best Ace Frehley impersonation because I knew that it was Gene Simmons doing and if somebody paid me to play Ace I would too. But now it has gone way to far. Tommy Thayer is being given his own signature Epiphone Les Paul Silverburst.

Why does this bother me?

  • When it comes to KISS and Ace Frehley the Les Paul is synonymous
  • It is a copy of Ace’s signature model minus the middle humbucker pickup
  • Thayer knows that it is the Ace model
  • It is called THE SPACEMAN

WHAT. THE. HELL? The Spaceman? That is Ace’s character! Not only are you sticking Thayer with his guitar but you are giving it Ace’s name! Way to go Gene Simmons you have whored out the last of Ace’s legacy in KISS to a cheap imitator that can’t even play Ace’s songs properly and is riding on the coat tails of his sound.

Metal Delirium fan and friend Eric Attila(of the band, Attila) said it quite well: “well, if you think about it, it’s fitting…as Tommy is a cheap copy of Ace, the Epiphone is cheap copy of a Les Paul…”

I am glad that in Ace’s last show with the band he punched Thayer for not allowing him to have personal friends backstage while the rest of the band did. Don’t believe it? Read Ace’s book.

About Matthew Kuritz

Born in 1989 in a small town in South Carolina, Matthew was raised on metal. His father, a huge KISS and other classic rock/metal fan and his brother wh owas raised during he hay-day of Hair Metal and Grunge, Matthew was made to do this. I digest any and all music that comes my way; not just metal. Metal for me strikes the rebellious, angry, and energizing nerve that no other music can. Metal has the most talent, most feeling, and most power than any kind of music. I am always up for discussing anything and everything involving metal and other music.
