Life On Repeat is a fairly new post-hardcore band from Maryland, and “Struggle +Sleep” was just released yesterday. I didn’t find out about these guys until I started checking around for new album released, and I’m sad to say my research on them came up a little short. All I know is, they are currently on tour, and they already have a new EP in the making.
However, I have a lot to say about the album itself. After listening to it a couple times all the way through, I have slightly mixed feelings toward it. On one hand, it is a little repetitive as far as the feel of the songs go because the vocals don’t change much and the beats are very similar. I become increasingly bored with the album starting around track 5. On the other hand, I caught myself singing along to “The Waiting Game” when I was only on my second listen because it’s so catchy and the lyrics are easily memorable.
Overall, I think these guys have talent, but they should push themselves a little harder in the future. The vocal range can be challenged; throw in a growl sometimes, some screams, and work on making the cleans more diverse. The beats can also be worked on. The ones they have are good, but they are all very similar with the same build up in the majority of the tracks. Hopefully we will see a change in the new stuff they are working on.
Rating: 6.5/10- This is a very generic post-hardcore album. It’s more on the lighter end of the spectrum which makes some of the songs come across as pop rock; which I don’t enjoy. Check out the video and see for yourselves.
