MetalSucks has reported that in an interview with Pitcam.Tv Machine Head front-man Robb Flynn has stated that the band is currently in-between record labels and isn’t sure what they are going to do.
I am going to go ahead and make a few assumptions and try and give my opinion as to what label is best for the band. I think that Metal Blade is the best fit because Machine Head is one of the Roadrunner bands that has stayed true to their sound. Many of the other bands on the label like Trivium, Killswitch Engage, and Slipknot have gone down a route that has found more and more of their music becoming more radio friendly. Not saying I don’t like what those bands have done, but comparable to Machine Head they have gotten much more mass marketable. If anything Machine Head have gotten heavier and farther away from that radio sound. Yes, the band had a weird time in the late 90′s but so did a lot of bands and they rebounded quite well.
Not to mention that Brian Slagel seems to be one of the best record execs in the business and is somebody that has his finger on the pulse of the genre. With that being said I hope Machine Head makes a decision that is best for them be it on Roadrunner, Metal Blade, Prosthetic(doubtful), Napalm, Nuclear Blast, or some other label.
