Set to release on June 26, Challenger is the newest full-length album from our friends from Texas, Memphis May Fire. For this album they teamed up with Asking Alexandria’s Danny Worsnop as well as Sleeping With Sirens’ Kellin Quinn to bring a new and interesting sound to a couple of the tracks.
As you may know, my co-workers and I aren’t big fans of many deathcore and metalcore bands. However, I feel that there are still some that stand out among the mess, and MMF is one of those few. I think the thing about these guys that attracts me the most is the crystal clear screams. I want to be able to understand the lyrics to the songs I’m listening to, and I have no problem doing that throughout the course of this album. Also, the fact that each of the songs has its own rhythm and beat is respectable when I’m used to getting albums compiled of songs that sound like carbon copies of one another.
Another thing I would like to point out is the value of the lyrics in this music. These guys seem to be much more honest and in touch with real emotions that they convey with each track. Overall, I am definitely pleased with the way this album turned out and I’m excited to see what kind of response it gets once it’s released. I actually found myself singing along to the tracks after just a few listens.
Memphis May Fire will also be playing on the entire Vans Warped Tour, so try to catch a show!
