Seether is a post-grunge/ alternative metal band from South Africa that has been slowly gaining popularity since they released their first album “Fragile” in 2000. By the time the band released their 4th full length album in 2005, “Karma and Effect,” many people thought that this was the best that would be seen from these guys and up until this point it was. However, they have since released two more albums, and “Holding On to Strings Better Left to Fray” has already risen to the top of the charts since its release on May 17 of this year. In it’s first week it surpassed the sales that were brought in from any of their other albums.
Personally, I have always been a Seether fan, but this album amazed me. I couldn’t wait for this album release because I knew it would be as good as always. I never expected it to blow my mind! I have listened to this album from start to finish several times and I am completely in love with it. No doubt, it is their best work so far. There are heavy songs that let out their metal side such as “Fur Cue” while others are very melodic and beautiful such as “Master of Disaster” and “Pass Slowly.” They even included a couple songs that are just fun to listen to such as “Country Song” which was the first single released from this album. This is by far the most diverse album that Seether has ever released, and I feel that it really shows their true talent. Each individual song stands on its own; there are no tracks that you can preview to help form an opinion of the whole album. So far, this is one of my favorite albums of 2011! There are no songs on this album that I dislike! I have even seen people that are not really fans of this band get into this album. Throw everything you’ve ever known about this band out the window, and start fresh with this album. You won’t regret it!
Rating: 10/10- Under this genre of music, it doesn’t get much better than this! Listen and enjoy!
