I was a little hesitant to give Ghost Flowers a spin when it first released. Their first album was a little hit and miss for me. I’ve always been a fan of Johnny Santos as a vocalist, but it’s hard for me to shake the nu-metal image he created for himself in Spineshank. Well I finally decided to give it a listen and I must say I’m impressed. The musicianship is great and Santos sounds better than he ever has. The music feels heavier than Spineshank as well. It feels more METAL. A lot of good guitar riffs and even a few solos can be heard throughout the album. At times Silent Civilian reminds of Diecast on Ghost Stories. I definitely think this could be one of my favorite albums for 2010. It makes me wonder what could be in store for the new Spineshank album in the works.
