Skuldom – Kill This Fucking World

If you’re into extreme metal and haven’t heard of Skuldom yet, you should perk your ears up on this one.  Formed in New Zealand in 1998, this sinister black metal band have just released their debut full-length, Kill This Fucking World.  Three years in the making, it delivers twisted black metal with a viciousness sure to make it an underground classic.  To help paint the picture of this band, I feel it’s important to know that their 2003 mini CD, Nativity in Brown, features a manger scene with baby Jesus replaced by a human turd.  Not just any turd, but one that bassist Faeces Christ diligently searched his own waste for a week to find the perfect one.  It was released on Christmas Day.  The bands live shows are just as twisted.  The members cover themselves in their own blood and have been known to throw scalpels into the audience.  One if which Faeces Christ used to carve a giant inverted cross into his chest causing him to pass out after the show.  Needless to say this band is pure evil, and Kill this Fucking World portrays that nicely.

Skuldom create a highly unique and unconventional sound due to their lack of a guitarist.  The in your face satanic onslaught is created by Faeces Christ and drummer WC.  This bass assault creates an ominous war like tone that sounds as if it’s coming directly from the pits of hell.  The distorted bass sounds downright dirty and nasty.  This is rounded out by the inhuman sounding vocals of Femondeotus.  She delivers the lyrics with a venomous rage that reaches right out and grabs the listener tight.
The production quality is perfect for Skuldom’s sound.  It really captures the dark, gritty feel that the band utilizes so well.  Each track is a deformed, writhing slab of black metal that refuses to be denied.  Kill This Fucking World gets better with each listen.  I wouldn’t be surprised to discover that these hard to resist songs were written by Satan himself.

Rating: 9/10
