Lion Splicer – Slicer
It’s hard for me to classify Lion Splicer right now. It’s a new band that seems like they are still trying to discover their sound. While I do like the music and the grooves the band creates, I can’t say much for the vocals. That to me is the weakest part of the album, but it can be improved. No vocalist starts out amazing, or even good. It takes a lot of practice. The quirky sound effects seem to throw me off as well. Overall it’s not bad, more rock oriented but not a bad release by any means. It might be worth checking out.
Manifest – Written In Blood
Some good old fashioned death metal and thrash metal mixed here. This album just starts with a god damn punch in the face. Probably my favorite on this list. It incorporates excellent elements of thrash and death to create a fucking beast of an album. Even throwing in some quirky Gwar-esque vocals here and their. One of the better bands that have emailed me, honestly, they should have a bright future. It’s one worth listening to if you are a fan of the genres.
Deadly Carnage – Sentiero – Ceneri
Not going to lie this album threw me for a loop the first time I heard it. In the best possible way though. In many ways it’s a doom/black metal mix that fits all nodes of the genres. It’s a lot more instrumental than I anticipated it would be but it works. The album takes you on a journey like no other. Sit back, relax, close your eyes, and imagine yourself wondering across and plane with a never ending destination. I love albums that do that, and this does it perfectly.
Paranorm – Pandemonium’s Rise
I always love when I hear a thrash band that sounds like they could have come out in the 80′s. Paranorm Strikes Hard and Strikes Fast(working a song title, always good) with their mix of thrash and into speed metal. Blazing fast guitar solo’s and riffs make the album a headbangers dream. If you really haven’t gotten into the rebirth of thrash metal you should, and you should check out this band if you want some of the best of the unknown.
Crowned by Fire – Prone To Destroy
Combining the blazing speed of thrash metal with a fucking great combination of thrash/power vocals comes Crowned By Fire. With the sound of Chuck Billy and the power of Russel Allen, this album vocally is impressive. As is the music though, powerful thrash metal that is another headbangers dream. I love when I get an album that makes me stop and think…..”wait, how the fuck did I miss this?.” This is the main event of this list, everybody should check it out.
