Thirty Years….Randy Rhoads

It’s been thirty years to the day that Randy Rhoads died in a tragic accident. He was cut short way before his time and could have gone down as even more of an influential guitarist than he did. I mean, he is considered the greatest ever just from the short time he was alive. The first time I ever heard “Crazy Train” it was one of those moments in your life when you hear something and you just go “that is perfect.” It’s one of the songs that got me into, not just metal, but music. It made me want to play guitar and be a rock star just as much as seeing Ace Frehley live or listening to any other of my guitar idols. Randy Rhoads will be missed until the end of metal time, his spirit will always live on in the music.

This is Ozzy listening to a track that he had NEVER heard from Randy, twenty-so years after his death.

This might be the most overplayed song of Ozzy’s career, but I still get goosebumps every single time I listen to a Randy version. Crazy Train

And of course, the first video so many of us ever saw.

It will never be played like that again.

About Matthew Kuritz

Born in 1989 in a small town in South Carolina, Matthew was raised on metal. His father, a huge KISS and other classic rock/metal fan and his brother wh owas raised during he hay-day of Hair Metal and Grunge, Matthew was made to do this. I digest any and all music that comes my way; not just metal. Metal for me strikes the rebellious, angry, and energizing nerve that no other music can. Metal has the most talent, most feeling, and most power than any kind of music. I am always up for discussing anything and everything involving metal and other music.
