Hot on the heels of the last great announcement from the Volbeat camp about frontman Michael Poulsen planning a project with Iced Earth’s Jon Schaffer comes the news that Mercyful Fate guitarist Hank Shermann will be joining the band for the upcoming Gigantour, He will be standing in for recently departed guitarist Thomas Bredahl. The tour with Megadeth, Motorhead, Volbeat, and Lacuna Coil commences in January of 2012 in the U.S.
Michael Poulsen commented on Hank filling in on Volbeat’s Gingantour dates, “It’s a true honor getting to work with Hank, whose guitar work has inspired all three band members long before Volbeat was formed. I’m very thankful that Hank has the time to join us on Gigantour in his busy schedule.”
